Greetings all! I think it's about time I did a little journal entry about where I've been for the last year and what's to be expected of my new artwork. I haven't done one artistic thing in the past year and few months due to what is in my opinion one of the most severe illnesses of the mind, depression. Real, clinic depression, an irrational feeling of sadness and despair that plagues the mind. Unlike a lot of people here, depression hinders my ability to create rather than helps it, as it clouds my mind and jumbles up my thoughts, which makes drawing and writing practically impossible for me. I'm better now though, and trying hard to put those days behind me and put my life back together. Since the depression's faded I've gone right back to my artwork. However, I find my tastes have changed greatly over the past year when it comes to my artwork. One of the first things I did to get back into drawing was look through my portfolio. As I looked through my old drawings, I realized that the majority of them, for lack of a better term, sucked. So I took most of them out and put them in a separate folder, to make way for my new artwork. Now to go into a little bit about my new artwork. First off, I've pretty much dropped all anime styles. I used to be a big fan of the whole cutesy anime 14 year old blue haired girl who wears Hot Topic clothes and has magical powers genre, but now that stuff just bores me to tears. Maybe the depression forever altered my mind, or maybe it's just me getting old, but all animes just seem to be carbon copies of one another with the same weak, nauseatingly cute plot. The same thing goes for the style of artwork. They ALL look the same to me. Big eyed, crazy haired, and outlandishly dressed. Now there are a rare few that I've seen that are actually quite nice, but the majority of them just seem to say "I can't draw detail or do anything original so I'll just draw anime!" Not to rant or anything, but the style just annoys me. That being said when I'm drawing people they'll be drawn like REAL, accurately proportioned people. Anywho, another thing that will be different about the new art is that a lot of it will be scary. I find that I'm pretty talented at depicting creepy, hellish things, so you'll be seeing quite a few of them. Also, a lot of my pictures will have to do with God's and demons and supernatural things like that. I've also taken up writing poetry, so hopefully I'll have some of that posted soon. I've already posted the first of my new drawings. It's entitled "Hecate" and it's a Macbeth fanart. You'll be seeing a lot of Macbeth fanarts since I'm currently obsessed with it. Ever since I first read it about 3 weeks ago I've absolutely fallen in love with it. The drawing I'm currently working on is another Macbeth fanart, this one of Macbeth himself. I hope to have it finished and posted soon.
